Crawley Classic
5’s Constitution
NAME
This League will be
known as the ‘Crawley Classic 5’s Summer Pool League’. It will be run on behalf
of ‘Crawley Pool League’.
1.
OBJECTIVES
1.
To promote &
organise the game of pool in Sussex in an area covering a 7 mile radius of
Crawley town centre.
2.
To ensure the game is
played in a sportsmanlike manner.
3.
To be a non-profitable
organization.
2.
MEMBERSHIP
1.
Membership is open to
all pool players over the age of 14 years (if under the age of 18 years they
may not be permitted into certain public houses) providing they are not
suspended by the committee of this League or any other League affiliated to the
English Pool Association.
2.
Entry is open to any
team of ten player’s max, who will use five players on a match night. A minimum
of three players constitute a team.
3.
Application for team
membership must be made on the entrance forms provided & received by the
League Secretary by the date published & must be accompanied by the
applicable fee.
4.
A player may transfer
for £3 once in the season up until end of first half of season.
5.
New players must be
registered 24 hours prior to match commencing.
6.
A player may only play
for one team as named on registration form, but players may be replaced at any
time up until half way from end of season.
7.
New players can be added
at any point throughout the season i.e. if a team has 10 players then 1 player
will need to be de-registered.
8.
Any captain, if they
have any doubts about a player’s eligibility to play can request to see that
player’s membership card (Included in folder).
3.
COMMITTEE RULES
1.
The Committee will
decide on all disputes or complaints concerning any team or member of the
League. Their decisions will be final & binding.
2.
All complaints must be
sent to the League Secretary in writing. Verbal complaints will not be
accepted.
3.
The League will not get
involved in any dispute between any landlord where a
player/team is barred from the venue. If a team is involved both captains must
set a date & venue to play the match & will be classed as a
postponement.
4.
Any dispute that cannot
be settled on the night will be referred to League Secretary who will then
consult committee to decide action & their decisions will be final.
4.
MATCH RULES
1.
The League will play its
matches on Wednesdays & tournaments will be played on Tuesdays/Thursdays as
required.
2.
Matches must start by
8.15pm
3.
Players not present when
due to play will lose one point after each five minutes.
4.
Each player will play
best of three frames against the opponent for one point per game won.
5.
Your opponent will be
chosen by a blind draw. Blind draw consists of captains placing player
membership cards face down & then each choosing a card from the opposing
team.
6.
Captains will fill in
result card using blind draw format (see rule 5.5) prior to match starting, no
changes must be made after match has commenced.
7.
Ranking points will be
awarded on the following:

2-0 win 3 points
·
2-1 win 2 points
·
2-0 loss no point
·
2-1 loss 1 point
8.
Any team found to play a
non-registered player will lose the points won by that player & receive a
£5 fine subject to committee discretion.
9.
Both team captains must
text result within 24hrs of match played. Score cards will still be required
(see rule 5.10). All results can be submitted by E-mail, MMS, on-line or post. A
clear & precise image of result card must be submitted when using MMS &
E-mail method, when using E-mail or MMS method all parties will be notified
when results have been submitted, only on these occasions postal results will
not be required.
10.
Both teams must send in
the result card no later than Saturday following match, if no cards are
received from either team it will show as a late result & incur a £5 fine
subject to the committees discretion.
11.
If a team withdraws from
the League all points won/lost will be withdrawn from all teams played &
will become bye nights.
12.
A Team that misses’ two
matches in the season they will be dropped from the League (see rule 5.11).
13.
On match nights the home
team must pay table costs but food is provided only at the home venues
discretion & is not a rule of the League.
5.
POSTPONEMENTS
1.
A team may request a
postponement of a League match by giving at least 48 hours’ notice to the
opposing captain. The exception to this is a postponement on the evening of a
match due to it not being practical to play because of another event at the
venue. Both team captains can agree to postpone the match as long as that match
has not begun.
2.
Emergencies are
acceptable reasons for a postponement but shortage of players is not.
3.
All postponed matches
must be played within 4 weeks of original date.
4.
All postponements must
be made known to League Secretary.
5.
If a team cancels game
at short notice i.e. 12 hours’ or less then no points will be awarded & the
non-cancelling team will be awarded match average at end of season subject to
committees’ discretion. Any food that has been provided by the non-cancelling
team should be reimbursed by cancelling team.
6.
COMPETITIONS
1.
In the event of a
competition both teams will share table costs.
2.
Competition dates may
not be changed for any reason & players/teams not present will be
eliminated from the event.
3.
All draws to be done by
the committee which will consist of at least 3 members of current committee.
4.
In some competitions it
may be necessary to have a preliminary round.
5.
Competition format will
be as follows:

Singles will be best of
3 frames until semi-final which will be best of 5 frames & final best of 7
frames.
·
Mixed Doubles will be
best of 3 frames throughout competition.
·
Doubles will be best of
3 frames until semi-final which will best of 5 frames & final best of 5
frames.
6.
In doubles any two
League members may form a team.
7.
In mixed doubles any
male/female that is not registered with the League can play provided any one
member is registered within the League.
8.
In doubles/mixed doubles
the 1 minute rule will apply & players may confer in that minute to select
colours after the break, no advice must be given once the player touches the
table.
9.
The mixed doubles will
be to Scotch doubles format, players to take alternate shots.
10.
In a Three Man event
only one county/pro player may play in any team.
11.
Three Man. Home team
123, 123, 123 Away team 123, 231, 312.
12.
Three Man team must
consist of three players from the same team.
13.
All competition results
must be received no later than Saturday following match.
7.
TEAM KNOCKOUT
1.
In Team knockout matches
may be pre-played but not postponed
2.
Once a player has played
in any round of team knockout & decides to transfer to another team he/she
will be deemed cup tied (they will not be eligible to play for their new team).
8.
PLAYING RULES
1.
Crawley Classic 5’s will
be playing using current world rules. Full rules can be found at www.crawleyclassic5s.co.uk.
9.
CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
The team captain will be
held responsible for the conduct of team members & supporters at all times.
This also applies to presentation evenings.
2.
Captains will be
responsible to inform their players of all fixture dates & venues for
League matches. All details can be obtained from League Secretary or can be
printed from League web-site.
3.
Captains will be
responsible to arrange with their landlord that the pool table(s) to used are
clean & level.
10.
REFEREES
1.
Each match must have a
referee. In the past, where referees have not called upon, disputes have arisen
& the League will not enter into any disputes where referees are not used.
2.
Home team to referee
first & the world rules will be used including the one minute per shot
rule, both teams should have a stopwatch.
3.
Referees will toss a
coin to determine who breaks first & then alternate breaks thereafter i.e.
the player who breaks first will then break third (if required).
11.
DIVISIONS
1.
The League will have
divisions according to entry.
2.
Promotions or
relegations will depend on the number of entries for the season but the League
committee will endeavour to maintain a 3 up/3 down system.
12.
TROPHIES
1.
League winners &
runners up will receive six individual trophies, three man
team will receive three trophies, & if you require any additional
trophies they can be brought at cost.
2.
Player rankings will be
awarded to top male/female of all divisions.
3.
All perpetual shields or
trophies will remain property of the League & must be returned to the
League Secretary at least 4 weeks before the close of the season.
4.
Failure to return such
trophies will result in charges being imposed on teams to cover the cost of
replacement. Failure to pay such costs will result in the team/individual not
being allowed to re-join the League.
5.
Perpetual
shields/trophies may be displayed in a safe place at winner’s venue.
6.
The team is responsible
for team trophies whilst the individual is responsible for any individual
trophies.
13.
OTHER MATTERS
1.
If League is tied at end
of season then it goes to matches won, if still tied a playoff will be
required.
2.
If player rankings are
tied at end of season then a playoff will be required.
3.
Entry to presentation
night will be set at £1 per person if brought in advance; otherwise it will be
£2 on the night. These monies collected will go towards next season’s prize
fund.
4.
Cash prizes are subject
to sponsorship.
5.
The secretary will
notify all landlords of any dates that may be used for an event night.
6.
Any other matter not
covered in these rules may be referred to League Secretary.
